Full guide for importing articles from Google Docs to WordPress

Most of us write articles using WordPress Editor or desktop editors, such as Open Live authors, blogs, desks, or anyone else. But, if you want to get articles from someone else, what do you do?

In my nine-year blogging, most users prefer articles using Google Docs (guest posts) or they are always normal. Send the Docx file.

And this makes sense because Google Docs makes cooperation easy. At the same time, while maintaining formatting, this is a headache for importing articles to WordPress. The biggest challenge is importing images from the doctor file to WordPress

Have you experienced similar?

If your answer is yes, today I have some good news for you

Now we have an official (and free) solution from the WordPress team, to import Google Docs articles directly into WordPress (including images!). It works on WordPress.com or on any self-hosted WordPress site (such as WPSstra) using the Jetpack plugin

Note: You can also upload .docx articles to Google Docs and import them from there.

In this tutorial, I'm showing you how you can do this. If this tutorial has proved useful to you, you can share it with your friends who are using WordPress for your blog or website!

So without any delay, let's take a look at this exact solution to transfer articles from Google Docs without losing images or formatting.

Full Tutorial on Importing Articles from Google Docs for WordPress:

To get started with this, you need to have an addon installed for Google Docs. Visit this page on your Chrome browser and install the official "WordPress.com for Google Docs" addon.

Here's the official description of addon:

"Instead of copying and pasting wordpress from Google Docs, instead of losing your images and formatting in the process, this add-on makes writing in Google Docs and making WordPress easier to publish and uploading images properly, with the ability to publish WordPress is."

On the next page, allow it to integrate WordPress.com with Google.com.

Once done, you can open any existing article that you want to import into WordPress.

Now, click on Add-ons> WordPress.com for Google Docs> Open

This will open a panel on the right, where you will need to access your docs to your WordPress.com

Click Authorize and it will open a new tab
Here you have to select your blog for which you want to grant access and click Authorized.

  • Click on Approve

This will take you to the login page of your blog. Log in to your blog and it will connect to WordPress.com on your Jetpack-powered WordPress blog for Google.com addon.

Not sure why, but when I did this, I found this error:

I removed the cache from my server and WordPress and tried again to fix this issue. If you get this error, then use this JetPack debugging tool.

This is also a common error:

"There was a problem getting your site information, please make sure that you have the Jetpack JSON API enabled, and try adding it again."

To fix this, Jetpack> enable the setting of your WordPress blog and the JSON API.

Go back to Google Doc, which you want to import into WordPress, click Reload and now you will be able to see your WordPress blog.

Here you will see a list of connected sites where you can save your Google Docs article as a draft. If you want to add more blogs, you can do so by clicking on "Add WordPress Site" in the footer.

Click Save Draft and once the draft is saved, you will get a link to preview the draft.

Images from Google Docs will be uploaded to your server and your formatting will remain intact.

Some Important Remarks:

If you edit the images in Google Docs (crop or rotate), the edits will not be reflected on WordPress.
Comments by author on or by Google Docs will not be imported.
If you remove an image from your Google Doc and click on the update draft, it will not remove the image from your blog's server.
Overall, from the initial testing of this official Google Docs for WordPress adenon, I tell about 4 out of 5 stars. The only problem that came to me was adding my blog. I have already shared some solutions above, so this can not be a problem for you
